Common questions
Vocab Depot FAQ.
Where can I use Vocab Depot?
Use the web application at vocabdepot.com. The mobile app carries the same visual language, list structure, and familiar navigation shown on the product page.
How do I create and organize a vocabulary list?
Open My Lists and choose the plus button or “Create your first list.” Give the list a name, optional description, language, and category. Inside a list, use Groups to organize related words and the list controls to search, sort, filter, favorite, or manage the collection.
What information can I save for each word?
A word can include its definition, American and IPA pronunciation, an example, synonyms, antonyms, a memory aid, notes, difficulty, mastery level, favorite status, groups, and related words.
Can Vocab Depot help fill in word details?
Yes. In the Add Word screen, the AI fill tool can suggest attributes such as a definition, pronunciation, example usage, synonyms, antonyms, and a memory aid. Review generated material before saving it to your list.
Can I generate a picture for a word?
Yes. Open a word and choose the image control, then select Generate with AI. Vocab Depot creates an illustration from the term and definition so you can build a stronger visual association. Review the result before keeping it.
How does audio generation work?
Open a word and choose the audio control. You can select a voice, adjust playback speed, and include the term, definition, and example in the generated recording. Usage limits can depend on your plan.

The extractor finds useful vocabulary in supported PDF, image, Word, Excel, and text files. Set a maximum word count, optionally add a subject hint, choose a file, and review the extracted words before adding them to a list.
How do Groups work?
Groups let you create smaller sets inside one vocabulary list—for example, a chapter, subject, trip, or exam unit. Open a list and choose the Groups tab to create and manage them.
What can I find in Community?
Community contains public vocabulary lists you can browse by category or search by name. You can inspect a useful collection and copy it into My Lists so you can personalize and practice it.
What practice tools are available?
The Tools tab includes Word Match, Speed Match, Fill in the Blank, and Word Pairs. It also provides quick access to favorite lists, recently viewed lists, and a combined progress view.

Open a list and choose the flashcard control. You can study in the default list order, randomize the deck, or reverse it. While reviewing, mark mastery and move through the deck at your own pace.
What is Word Match?
Word Match places terms and their definitions, synonyms, antonyms, or examples in two columns. Select the matching pair and work through focused sets from your chosen list.
What is Speed Match?
Speed Match presents a term or attribute with several possible answers. Choose quickly and build your score during the 60-second round.
What is Fill in the Blank?
Fill in the Blank removes a vocabulary word from an example sentence. Use context to choose the word that completes the sentence correctly.
What is Word Pairs?
Word Pairs presents definitions one at a time and asks you to select the matching word, creating a focused recognition exercise.
How do custom quizzes work?
Open a list and choose Quiz. You can set the number of questions, add an optional timer, and select multiple choice, fill-in-the-blank, and true-or-false question types.
How is progress measured?
Each list has a Progress tab with total views, days studied, a mastery distribution, and mastery over time. Word-level mastery markers help distinguish known, review, hard, and unrated words.
